Sunsets and Summer in Vancouver are Sensational

There is a distinct magic to Vancouver in the summer. It’s in the way the morning saltwater mist clears to reveal a sparkling Burrard Inlet, the sound of laughter echoing from nearby beaches, and the simple luxury of leaving your car keys on the counter. Here on the North Shore, "walkability" isn't just a real estate buzzword—it is a daily lifestyle. It’s the ability to step out your front door and find yourself minutes away from a world class beach, a scenic trail, or a perfect iced latte. As we soak up these gorgeous, sun-drenched summer weeks, our team has put together a curated afternoon itinerary featuring our absolute favorite local strolls and patio stops in Ambleside and Dundarave. Pack your sunglasses, leave the car behind, and let’s go for a walk.

Step 1: The Morning Brew & The Seawall Warm-up

Every great summer walk starts with exceptional coffee.
  • The Stop: Begin your journey in Ambleside. Grab a perfectly crafted cold brew or a fresh pastry from Crema Cafe on Bellevue Ave.
  • The Stroll: Head straight down to the Ambleside Seawall. Walking west, you’ll have the iconic Lions Gate Bridge to your left and the gorgeous coastal shoreline guiding your way. It’s flat, incredibly scenic, and the perfect place to watch the sailboats drift by.

Step 2: The Dundarave Detour & A Sunlit Lunch

As you reach the end of the seawall, you’ll find yourself transitioning into the charming, village-like atmosphere of Dundarave.
  • The Patio: Secure a spot on a sunny patio close to the water. The Beachhouse is our favourite. Whether you’re stopping for a crisp glass of rosé, a fresh summer salad, or some local seafood, Dundarave’s eateries offer that perfect, laid-back European holiday feel right here in BC.
  • The Stroll: After lunch, wander up through Dundarave Village. Pop into the local boutiques, admire the gorgeous floral displays, and enjoy the slower, community-focused pace that makes this pocket of West Vancouver so incredibly special.

Step 3: Golden Hour at the Beach

No West Vancouver summer day is complete without getting your feet sandy.
  • The Stop: Meander down to Dundarave Beach. Find a log, watch the sunset dip below the horizon, and take a deep breath of that fresh ocean air. It’s the ultimate way to exhale after a busy week.
